Creativity is something that everyone has. I know what some of you are thinking right now- that you totally don’t have a creative bone in your body. I, however, am going to completely prove you wrong throughout this blog post.

Everyone has a touch of creativity; you just need to find it. Here are 7 ways you can channel and boost your inner creativity:

Being creative is something that a lot of people struggle with. While I know that deep down everyone has the ability to be creative; it is definitely tougher for some to find their creativity than others. Taking some time to think of a bunch of ideas is extremely helpful when it comes to channeling your creativity. The goal is to bounce one idea off of the next until you eventually find something that you like. Whether it is debating what to draw, figuring out a name you’d like to call something, or even a blog post idea, this works. Trust me.

Take Alone Time

Going along with brainstorming, taking some time to be alone can really help spark ideas. You know when you’re half falling asleep in class but half day dreaming about random things? This may be a bad idea in class, but can be an awesome idea when you’re trying to get your creativity going.

Go On Pinterest

Pinterest is the ultimate social media outlet for the creative. You can find everything and anything on Pinterest. Whether it be a D.I.Y or a cute quote, there will always be something. I like to browse (a.k.a. spend hours and hours) on Pinterest when I’m in need of some blog post ideas, or just ideas in general.

Use A Blank Canvas

Sometimes the best way to come up with creative ideas is to just let your pen run freely. I find that when I take some time to jot down simple ideas, they turn into even larger, more elaborate ideas if I continue to write. This also works with sketching.

Take A Break

Life is crazy, if you’re stressed out 24/7 you’re probably going to have a tough time coming up with the creative idea that you’d like to. Try and let all of life go for a little bit and really think about yourself. What are you trying to do? What do you want to create? How can you create this? As weird as it sounds, I think of my best ideas when I’m in the shower.

Utilize Sites Like Bloglovin’

Similar to Pinterest, Bloglovin’ allows you to follow different people and then get updated whenever they post something. When I hit a creativity block, I always head over to Bloglovin’. It’s a lot easier to come up with your own ideas after reading a ton of other people’s.

Get Out

Get out, quit reading this blog post and go socialize! Talking to people can easily become a root for creative ideas. Bounce ideas off one and other, you might even begin to think of creative ideas without even realizing it.

Best of luck with your creativity! What is your favorite way to boost your creativity?

For whatever reason taking a shower generally helps me boost creativity! If I’m having a particularly creative day, I try to take time for a brain dump!

Yes to taking a break. It seems counterintuitive but taking a break really helps. I get my best ideas when I’m working out (or right after working out).

  • I love Pinterest! I often spend time on there when I am on transit or waiting in line. So many inspiring ideas.

Pinterest is my number one source for inspo. I’ll look up pics, repin them and then write down my ideas in a journal as I’m doing so. When it comes time to shoot, I look at my journal and pull inspo from that!

  • I am always looking for inspo all around me and you nailed so many of the things I do to get it.

I really want to start a mood board but I have no room in my room! Thats why I love pinterest being an online mood board!

  • What an awesome list of tips. I somehow find my best ideas when I’m not expecting them. Writing instead of typing helps me A LOT, so I love your idea of a blank canvas!

  • Going on Pinterest and getting out are the 2 most helpful for me! I tend to over analyze and sometimes need to just take a break so I can re-energize and get those creative juices flowing!

Pinterest is my #1 stop when I have a brain block. I always wonder what people did before Pinterest (wedding planning, WHAT?!) and sometimes I wonder if its just too easy to find inspiration nowadays, but the ways you listed in your post are great ways to boost creativity and find inspiration!
