Yesterday my best friend Alessia and I headed to New York City for a spontaneous adventure! We were feeling like we wanted a change of scenery on Monday and decided that we needed to do at least one exciting thing during our Spring Break. We ended up opting for NYC.
Our trip to the big apple could definitely be considered a “day of firsts”, it was the first time I drove on the highway (we had to get to the train station somehow) and it was the first day we
tried learned how to navigate around NYC with the subway system!
After spending a lot of time trying to figure out how the subway system worked, we finally made our way towards SoHo, New York. Our original plan was to head over to Blacktop Burgers to try one of their “Instafamous” milkshakes, but the wait time was 3 hours! in a line outside! Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge advocate for anything that has to do with burgers, ice cream, or milkshakes, but waiting three hours just didn’t seem practical for us.
We ended up eating at a cute little cafe called Two Hands. This was the polar opposite of our original plan. Unlike an oozing extra large, sugar overdose of a milkshake, at Two Hands we ordered acai bowls, which are basically thick smoothies with toppings.
We spent the rest of our day wandering in and out of stores that were way out of our budget. We did stumble upon the stores Birchbox and Don’t Ask Why, both of which I never knew existed!
Don’t Ask Why is (or was, I guess?) a part of American Eagle, and apparently is a single store as well. Birchbox is a monthly subscription that you can get tailored to your liking and shipped to your doorstep, who knew they had a store (obviously not us)!
Are you currently on spring break, how are you spending it?
