I’ve Got Some Explaining To Do…

These past few weeks have definitely been different than usual. After running out of prewritten blog posts, I began to start scrambling to write as much as I could the day before a post was scheduled to go live. The problem? Writer’s block. I had no idea what to write about at all.  This got frustrating…very frustrating.

Blogging became less fun for me because it was more of a chore to think about what to post. After going home this past weekend for a few days, I was able to catch myself up with schoolwork, blogging, and even had the chance to give myself a bit of relaxation time…..okay maybe a lot of relaxation time.

I love spending time at home because you aren’t surrounded by people 24/7. Living on a college campus can get overwhelming sometimes, you are constantly around people and don’t always get too much time for yourself.  Let’s not forget that home is also where the dog is…

My past blog-less weeks were hectic but rewarding! I was able to score a 99 on one of my midterms and a 97 on one of my others. Yay for five million hours in the library actually paying off and yay for being smart! Rob bought me Taco Bell because I did so well on these tests (he really knows the way to my heart).

I also sealed the deal on becoming an Eff.Y.Bee brand ambassador! This company consists of a group of NYC-based girls who design and sell beautiful bracelets! Not even kidding guys- I wish I could buy everything that they sell.  A blog post all about this company will be coming soon.

I am getting a tad bit SO impatient that the warm weather isn’t fully here yet. When I went home this past weekend I left my winter jacket and my Hunter rain boots home. My intention behind this was great, I figured that the warm weather was here to stay and that I could save some space by leaving this bulky jacket and these ten-pound boots at home (am I the only one who thinks that Hunter rain boots are literally SO heavy!?). Sadly, this was not my smartest decision considering it is currently 37 degrees and it is downpouring.

This little blogging hiatus didn’t make me feel that great. It sucks feeling like you’re just blowing off/failing at something that makes you so happy. In a way I guess it was good because it gave me some time to get back on track with some important obligations (a.k.a never ending schoolwork).

I’m excited to get back into blogging and am ready to start posting regularly again! P.S: for those of you that celebrate, happy belated Easter!

Never consider taking some time off a failure. We all go through little blogging blocks. It’s part of the natural creative process. But whatever keeps you going while you blog, that is what will always keep you blogging. I recently took about a week and some change off because I went to England and then I just needed to get into the groove of non vacation life again. it happens. Don’t be so hard on yourself!

  • Welcome back to blogging! Seriously, I think every blogger goes through a down period, I know I have! I think thats the beautiful thing about a blog, you can just jump right back in where you left off and be just as successful!

So many adorable animal pics!! Welcome back and happy Easter. Can’t wait to follow along.

It’s refreshing to take some time off from blogging once in a while. Give your brain a break and come back stronger!

  • I absolutely loved your qoute, “Home is also where the dog is”
Like many of the other girls have commented, taking a break from Blogging is never a bad thing. It should be a hobby that you enjoy doing and don’t feel like you have to. I know that I tend to take breaks when ever I don’t feel inspired or have been really busy. When I start feeling like a “failure” for not keeping up with my blog, I stop and prioritize what’s important in my life. Usually this gives me the motivation to get shit done that’s at the top of my list so I can get back to enjoying blogging.

    • ugh thank you so much! I agree with you, it shouldnt feel like a chore, it is a hobby! Taking breaks is the worst but I am starting to realize that they are sometimes needed!

  • Congrats on being back! Plus, that dog and bunny are absolutely precious. Sometimes you just gotta take a break though. Because letting school take wayside to blogging is not the way to go.

Welcome back to blogging, and congrats on those exam scores! Sometimes a break is just what we need now and again. Glad to see you back, though! 🙂

  • Glad you’re back, girl! It’s definitely important to take a break sometimes. We are human beings and college students and no matter how much we love blogging, it needs to take a backseat to our school work and our health, you know? It’s great how breaks make you feel so much more motivated! I just got off spring break and while I kind of feel like I’m dragging my feet to class and such, I’m motivated to kick some booty for the rest of the semester. Great job on your midterms – that’s amazing!!

    • ugh thank you so much! I agree with you about the motivation, it’s nice to take breaks and figure everything out! I usually come back from breaks with a better mind set.

  • Ellen Smith

I don’t think you should feel bad about not supplying as much content or taking a break! This literally happens to us all. 🙂 I feel like a two week break normally gets you back into the swing of things. I’ll be interested to see your Eff.Y.Bee Post and omg your dog is so cute. 🙂 Well done on the amazing grades too!

  • Kayleigh

I definitely think taking breaks is completely fine! It’s nice to enjoy your time away from all of your responsibilities!

Writer’s block can be so tricky! Totally get where you’re coming from!

  • Writer’s block is tough. I like to keep a list in the notes app on my phone. When I’m in line for coffee, on the subway, or whenever an idea strikes I write it down so I have a bunch of options stored up.

  • Glad to see you’re back! I feel like I hit writer’s block recently but it helped me to just sort of write what I wanted instead of focusing solely on what would “do well” on Pinterest or Twitter.

  • Writer’s blog sucks! I always have a notepad on me jotting down any ideas I have and turn to it when I do have writer’s block. Glad to see you back blogging though! (:

  • Coming up with blog topics at the last minute is THE WORST. That is why I keep a running list of possible topics, taking time when I can to go ahead and draft outlines for future posts.

  • Congrats on becoming an ambassador! I definitely know how writer’s blog feels — sometimes all you need is a few days away to rejuvenate and become inspired again!

  • Those bracelets are wonderful! I adore those bunny pics! 🙂

  • Your dog is adorable! I hate blogger burn out. I can plan out a month and not want to write a single post that month. I really need to start drafting posts earlier!

    • thank you! blogging burn out is the WORST. Drafting out posts before hand is so helpful but sometimes I don’t always have the extra time to do it :/

  • I have been going through major blogging block and I am glad someone understands. I haven’t hardly written any posts during March. I adore your dog! I have two doxies of my own!

  • We all go through this :/ but congrats on becoming a brand ambassador!!!! Milestone acomplished!
