May is already over…. what?! It’s crazy how fast time is going by. I don’t know if it is because I am more busy than usual, or because I am getting older , I really don’t know what the deal is but it is getting kiiiiinda scary. Before I know it I’ll be heading back up to school and moving in again in August.
I am trying to savor my Summer days as much as possible so let’s hope that June goes by a bit slower than this past month did. I am a big fan of “monthly favorites” types of blog posts soooooooooooo here I am again whippin’ up a blog post for you guys. I now bring you my list of favorite things during the month of May:
When I was still up at school I discovered an amazing food place called the Undercover Eggplant. This place has a ton of different soups, salads, and sandwiches. They are known for their famous pasta salad that comes with every sandwich. Not gonna’ lie, I was pretty mad at myself for discovering this restaurant so late in my college career but I am SO happy that I finally tried it out, it was delish. I can’t wait to check out this spot again when I head back up to school.
Ah, good old H2O… I loooooove water. I hardly ever drink soda or any juices/teas because they upset my stomach so I have learned to love and appreciate water very much. I guess you could say this is kind of a strange “favorite of the month” but after going a few days without drinking as much water as I usually do, I have really learned how good it makes me feel. When I don’t drink enough water I get headaches, and I’m more hungry and tired than usual. I was gifted a S’well water bottle this year and am obsessed. It is definitely an incentive to drink more water, just because it is so pretty.
I finished my last college final of my sophomore year on May 10th, so I have been home for about a month now. Being home is such a different atmosphere than that of living in college. I love being able to control what I eat, and being able to work, and of course the obvious… shower without flip flops. Having my car readily available is also a huge plus of living at home… I don’t bring my car up to school with me. Being home also means that I get to spend some time with my two faves, Cisco, and Elliot.
I was given LUSH gift cards for my birthday and Christmas last year and amongst the many different things I bought, one of the things I opted to buy was the Ocean Salt Body/Face Scrub. This stuff is the bomb dot com guys, it literally works wonders for my skin and leaves my face and body feeling baby soft after every use. This scrub has sea salt, coconut, and avocado in it! The best part is that this stuff smells amazing. Definitely a must have if you are ever shopping in the LUSH department.
My best friend Alessia and I had our first beach excursion this past weekend and I got BURNT, like seriously so burnt…..I look like a tomato. For some reason whenever I go to the beach I always end up with some type of sunburn somewhere on my body, I have no idea why because I really do use sunscreen- I swear! I guess I am just not reapplying it soon enough, this is something I am trying to work on. But anyways, back to the favorite of the month…. Cream with aloe extract in it has been my savior this past week, safe to say that I will be using this stuff a lot this Summer.
I have been trying to get my Instagram following up and it has been working slowly but surely (very slowly). My goal this month was to gain more followers and I did just that- I gained a few hundred followers and am looking to get in the 2,000 range next month. I have been loving the latest update of the app, the small changes go a long way! I currently post on Instagram about four to five times a week but my goal for the month of June is to be able to post every day and spend some extra time interacting with other grammers’. If you don’t follow me on Instagram already you totally should!
7. Acai Bowls:
I have totally talked about these bad boys in a previous post here on the blog, and here I am talking about them yet again. If you are unfamiliar with what an acai bowl is it is basically like a thicker version of a smoothie with a TON of toppings. I like to think of it like an ice cream sundae except a LOT healthier. I got one a few weeks ago and it was sosososo yummy. I opted to top it off with blueberries, bananas, raspberries, granola, honey, and peanut butter- try and say that ten times fast .
8. Dry Shampoo:
Dry shampoo should seriously be on everyone’s favorites of the month list. This stuff is magical and is a life saver. Dry shampoo always comes in handy when I am rushing around and need to help my hair out a little bit. If you are unsure of what dry shampoo is, it is a spray on product that absorbs the oils in your hair. You could seriously go like three days without washing your hair while using this stuff and it would still look squeaky clean.
Nikki Blackketter is a fitness guru and YouTuber who I have recently discovered this month. She uploads vlog style videos a few times a week featuring things such as what she eats in a day, her workouts, and just overall different aspects of her life. She is seriously awesome and gives me the motivation to get my booty to the gym every day. If you are looking for a new YouTuber to watch I totally recommend!
I think this is on every blogger’s favorites of the month list! I have been on and off with blogging lately but am ready to start posting on a regular basis. Today I am making an editorial calendar which will totally help a ton with keeping me on track with my blog posts/social media posts/ and all that other jazz that comes along with maintaining a blog. If you are unsure of what an editorial calender is have no fear- my next post is going to talk all about it 😉
That wraps up my favorites for the month of May. I hope you all have had an amazing month and are looking forward to a very hopeful month of June! What is one of your favorite things from the month of May?!
