In today’s day and age, social media outlets are major resources for most entrepreneurs, business owners, or bloggers.
Of all the social media outlets that are prominent, Instagram is by far my favorite. I truly feel that Instagram is much more than just a photo-sharing app. Instagram is a creativity outlet that allows you to share your pictures and dwell on the stories behind them.
Instagram has been popular for a very long time, it is only recently that “grammers” began to worry about an essential factor of their Instagram account… something called a “theme”.
If you want to be a successful Instagrammer having a specific, similar, “look” to all of your pictures is important. I understand that the theme life isn’t for everyone, but if you’re kinda, maybe, sorta’, thinkin’ you’d like to try it out you have come to the right place. Here is my lil’ guide on how to maintain an Instagram theme:
The first thing to think about when starting to create a theme for your Instagram is what theme you would like to maintain. There are a ton of different themes, and I really don’t think there are specific names for any of them. It really depends on your preference and what type of aesthetic you enjoy. I personally have a bright, white theme. I chose this because I feel that it mirrors my personality and allows me to post photos that correlate with who I am as a person.
Going off of that, you want to start thinking about what type of pictures you want to be posting for your audience to see. Think about the type of pictures that you enjoy seeing in your Instagram feed and base it off of that. Don’t post pictures that you think will please others, your Instagram is for you to enjoy. Make sure every picture you post connects to you in some type of way. After all, if you aren’t posting according to yourself then you’re basically lying to your audience! A stranger should be able to somewhat summarize who you are as a person by scrolling through your posts and reading your captions.
You want to be sure that the pictures you take somehow connect to your theme. While it is easy to use editing apps to change the brightness, exposure, saturation, and contrast of your photos, it is a lot easier to just take a picture that you know would fit into your theme in the first place. For instance, if you have a white theme you probably shouldn’t be taking a picture with a black background in the first place. This will make your life A LOT easier in the long run, trust me. I find that pictures turn out the absolute best when they are taken with natural lighting; this is something I always try to utilize when I’m looking to post an Instagram picture.
Once you have your picture your next step is to head over to your favorite editing app. I personally love VSCOcam, Facetune, and Aviary. There a bunch of different editing apps that each have unique filters and editing tools, so be sure to check out the app store and chose the app that best fits your liking.
That about does it for my “how to” post on maintaining an aesthetically pleasing Instagram theme! I hope you all have an awesome day and I wish you the best of luck with your new theme! Here are a few of my top Instagram theme picks:
