Thankfulness

Something to take a few minutes to think about on this lovely Friday morning…

Well for starters… Congratulations! You’re alive!!

Besides being alive… if you cant think of anything to be thankful for, think of these. Although these might not be what you’re going to bring up at the Thanksgiving dinner table; they actually add up to be the reasons behind who you are as a person today

Welp… guess we should get started….

Have you ever been thankful for whom you are today? Have you ever been thankful that you have turned into a strong, wholehearted person? Have you ever been thankful that you have the ability to love? Have you ever been thankful to be a free thinker and have the right to voice your own opinions? Have you ever been thankful for being that one person who knows everything? Or have you ever been thankful for being a wallflower? Have you ever been thankful that you’re calm? Or are you thankful for not needing to hide behind your emotions?

Have you ever been thankful to have friends? Have you ever been thankful to have a best friend? Have you ever been thankful that your best friend never gets left out? Have you ever been thankful that your friends are always supporting you? Have you ever been thankful that all of your friends think you’re important? Have you ever been thankful that your friends love you? Or are you thankful for not being that one friend whom everyone wants to be around with? Where you’d be able to have time for yourself, where you wouldn’t need to worry about pleasing anyone? Are you thankful you have the ability to make friends?

Have you ever been thankful to have a wealthy family? Or have you ever been thankful to have a family who is average? Are you thankful that your family cannot afford to buy you everything you want? That your family has taught you what it’s like to work for things and appreciate what you have? Or a family who would never disown you? Or most important, have you ever been thankful for having a family at all? Or a mother? Or a father? Have you ever been thankful that your parents support you? Have you ever been thankful that you were brought up in a strong loving family? Have you ever been thankful that your parents love each other? Are you thankful your parents were fortunate enough to have the ability to raise you into the strong healthy person you are today?

Have you ever been thankful that you’re a smart student? Have you ever been thankful that you have the ability to think logically? Have you ever been thankful that you have the right to go to school? Or that your parents enrolled you into school in the first place? Have you ever been thankful for always being on top of your schoolwork? Have you ever been thankful that despite all the craziness, you survived that week of five tests? Have you ever been thankful that you have the opportunity to graduate? Or pursue a college degree? Have you ever been thankful that you’ve never flunked? Or that the teacher dropped that one bad grade you were really stressing about? Or that your parents could drive you to school on the days you had too much stuff to carry on the bus?

Isn’t it kind of overwhelming to think about all of these things at the same time? However, when taking the time to think, you have a chance to appreciate a lot more. We’re always trying to find the missing piece of the puzzle, yet we have no clue what puzzle we’re even trying to complete. Could you relate to any of the above? Are you any of the above? I can’t say I’m not all, but I might be one, or some, or a few. Everyone’s different and everyone is trying to complete their own puzzle. Be thankful that you’re here today and now, stop complaining and stop being so negative. Take a minute to be thankful for the little things, and go from there.
